Following with the tradition of the past couple of years we celebrate Christmas with my side of the family at New Year's. On Friday Seth and I loaded up "the beast" yet again and headed out to Pittsburgh to visit my side of the family.
The Fonz had done such a great job at my mother-in-law's house that I thought he'd just continue at my parents...WRONG. I'm not sure if it was the smell of Murphy in the house or what, but the poor pup was INSANE when we got there and didn't really settle down until the following day. The little evening jaunt he decided to take by himself through my parent's neighborhood (black dog running around the streets at night = nearly giving me a heart attack!) and racing around my sister's fenced in back yard a couple of times helped him relax a bit.
The little ones played nicely together...Levi seemed to like their company more than their last visit and he even shared his new, beloved tackle box with Rachel. Mimi and Bubba got each of the kids "pack-packs" and they loved wearing them around all day. The littlest ones liked their sit n' spins and Rach enjoyed the rather large Barbie wardrobe that she received.
Levi continued to be all about the cookies. After having his allotted amount, I saw him proudly walking around with another "tookie" in his hand. He was quite upset when I put it back on the counter...and tried to outsmart me. A couple seconds later I peeked around the dining room wall and saw him in the kitchen whipping a dish towel up on the counter top, "fishing" for the cookie! So that's how he managed to get it!
Seth and I were the only ones to make it to midnight on New Year's Eve (thankfully Levi had been sleeping for a couple of hours!)...not exactly the most exciting New Year's we've had, but good enough. 2011 was a good year. I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store in 2012.
